Hello Quality Equestrian is proud to offer fully bespoke, made-to-measure riding boots handcrafted in South Africa. Your Custom Boots are built entirely around your body — your measurements, your chosen leather, your hardware, and your design preferences. No two pairs are the same.
This guide walks you through all 7 measurements required to produce your Custom Boots. Please read carefully, measure twice, and contact us if you have any questions before submitting your order form.

Before You Measure
- ✓ Use a flexible fabric measuring tape — not a rigid ruler or metal tape
- ✓ Wear the socks and breeches/jodhpurs you normally ride in
- ✓ Stand on a hard, flat surface with your full weight on both feet
- ✓ Have a helper assist you — self-measuring is less accurate
- ✓ Measure both legs and record both sets of measurements
- ✓ Record all measurements in centimetres (cm)
- ✓ Measure twice and confirm before submitting your order form
Your 7 Custom Boot Measurements
All 7 measurements are required. The numbers match the diagram above.
Stand upright. Measure from the floor to the point just below your kneecap. Keep the tape straight and vertical. Measure both legs.
Tip: Bend your knee slightly to find the natural crease just below the kneecap.
Measure around the leg just below the kneecap, at the same height as measurement 1. Measure both legs.
Tip: Take this at exactly the same height as your Length measurement (No. 1).
Wrap the tape around the widest part of your calf. Do not flex. Keep the tape comfortably snug. Measure both calves.
Tip: Calves often differ in size — always record both separately.
Measure around the narrowest part of your ankle, just above the ankle bone. Measure both ankles.
Tip: Typically 2–3 cm above the ankle bone.
Wrap the tape over the instep and under the arch at the highest point of the foot. Ensures the boot can be put on and taken off comfortably.
Tip: Keep the tape snug but not tight — you need room to get the boot on.
Measure across the top of the foot at the widest part of the toes — from one side to the other in a straight line. Stand with full weight on the foot.
Tip: Straight across measurement, not a circumference.
Put on your riding socks and stand on a piece of paper on a hard floor. Mark the back of your heel and the tip of your longest toe. Measure between the two marks. Repeat for the other foot and use the longer measurement.
Tip: Always measure with socks on — never barefoot.
Always record both left and right leg for measurements 1–4. Legs often differ. Your left and right boot may be crafted slightly differently to ensure a perfect fit on both legs.

For a fast quote we only need three measurements: leg length (No. 1), calf circumference (No. 3), and shoe size (No. 7). Submit via the product page or contact us directly.

Once you approve the quote, a deposit is required to begin production. We will confirm receipt and provide your expected completion date.
